Length: +/- 56 miles
Elevation: 2746 ft
Terrain: one significant climb, flat to rolling
Description: This is route is quickly becoming one of my favorites. You will head west and almost ride into Oklahoma. With only one significant climb it is a great route for folks wanting something a little flatter. But the one significant climb is…well…significant. There are some great stretches of road on this route with almost no auto traffic. But there are also some short stretches with traffic. I highly encourage you to put this one your list. Departing from MopedU head south on College Ave. Proceed to the intersection of College Ave. and Martin Luther King. Turn right on Martin Luther King. Stay on MLK all the way to Farmingtion. ACHTUNG! This is a high traffic 4 lane road. Stay alert. Once you are through Farmington proceed to the intersection of 62 Bethel Blacktop Rd. Hang right on to 62 Bethel Blacktop Rd. Proceed on 62 Bethel Black Top Rd. until you reach the stop sign that dead T’s into 33 Wedington Blacktop Rd. Take a left then the next right (it come up quick) on to Rheas 68 Community Rd.The scenery on this stretch is very good. Proceed until it dead T’s into 669 N. Jackson Hwy. Take a left and the very next right (it comes up quick) on to Gem Rd. This is the significant climb I was telling you about. While it is only .5 miles long with about 250 ft gain. It goes straight up with no curves in the road. So it’s a bit more mental, staring you in the face with each pedal stroke. But once you are up top rest assure the hard part is over and the scenery only gets better. Proceed to the stop sign at the dead T. Hang a right on Old Cincinnati Rd. You will be treated with a really fun twisty descent and some incredible views. I really like this section of road. Proceed to the stop sign dead T. Hang a right on to Hwy. 59. While the traffic on this road is moving at speed the shoulder is good and you will only be on 59 for about 6 miles. Take a right on to 244. This is another section of road with very little traffic, great scenery and rolling twisty terrain. Proceed on this until you hit the intersection at 16. You will want to veer right on to 16 towards Lake Wedingtion. ACHTUNG! This stretch has some traffic moving at speed. Proceed on 16 for the next 5 miles and turn right on to 37 Viney Grove Rd. Proceed on Viney Grove Rd. for the next 3 miles and at the base of the hill hang a left onto 66 Goose Creek Rd. Proceed on Goose Creek Rd. for the next 6 miles. Take a left on to Double Springs Rd. In less than 1 mile take a right onto 640 Wayne Sellers Rd. When you get to the stop sign take a left unto N. 54th Ave. When you get to the stop sign take a right onto West Persimmon St. Continue until you hit N. Salem Rd., hang a left and proceed to the Wedington Rd. intersection. Here you will get into some traffic again. Stay alert. Hang right on to Wedingtion Rd. and this will take you back into town. Congrats you made it!
