Can you see the light? The one at the end of winters tunnel. It looks kind of like Daylight Saving Time. This Sunday! With it the return of group rides, Tuesday Night World Championships and the Avoca Road Race Series. Have you seen the forecast for the weekend? Hang in there…birds of spring are starting to chirp.
Omloop het Nieuwsblad
What a complex final. A Brit plays the etixx-fiddle like a virtuoso. If you were in etixx – Quick-Step’s S-Works what would you have done differently?
Kuurne Bruxelles Kuurne
On Sunday another speedy Brit saves the day. The finish looked chaotic.
La Drome Classic
Dumoulin’s attack on the final climb at 1.6k was vicious but the descent and crazy amounts of corners afterwards looked equally challenging. It also should be noted US rider Peter Stetina was in the mix.

OCA
Any idea of the routes they will use for the Arkansas Classic?
I believe the road race course is the Hell’s Kitchen loop but the start/finish is in Prairie Grove. The ITT is Mount Gaylor and I am not sure about the last race.
Prairie Grove subdivision is the rumors on the crit.

Per request, the course details will be posted later today. There will also be maps and more details at registration. Weather should shape up just fine before the weekend. Cool, but mild temps and sunny.
Just to clarify for those of you who aren’t sure what Masters A and Masters B designations are for this race: Masters A is 30+ and Masters B is 40+, as stated on the race flyer. No Cat restrictions. There is also a break-down of the Juniors age categories on the flyer. See race flyer and race maps for more details.
Of course Men’s and Women’s A,B,C,D and A,B,C, respectively, are Collegiate categories, in case that isn’t clear from the flyer. That being said, UA Alumni may also race in the Collegiate categories with their USAC category equivalent. Alumni will not score towards Collegiate Conference points, but rather will be scored according to USAC points. This clause is intended for alumni of UARK Cycling.
Pre-registration can be done online at BikeReg or from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M., March 6th, at Good Bikes bike shop. Omloop race – What a disaster for quick step! You have to imagine their team car was only interested in Boonen attacking with the hopes of winning. Digressing – I love Boonen, but I also loved Favre – You have to know when your not ‘the man’ anymore. Boonen obviously didnt have it when he attacked. Sad to say the least… It should have been Terpstra attacking. He’s the only one that could have held that solo. But no! They were selfish and didn’t attack Stannard relentlessly. Therefore Stannard takes the win! Terrible race tactics from a Belgian team on Belgian soil!
It was indeed a disaster. etixx 40K team time trial was pretty amazing though. At times you could see all riders including Stannard grimacing. What to do? Attack early and risk getting caught by the chasers or keep the pace high and wait until later while Stannard gets a free ride. Tough call. I do think Boonen waiting for the sprint and Terpstra attacking early from a long way would have been interesting. When Stannard put his dig in it was so well timed causing hesitation. Obviously Vandenburgh was cooked. Maybe you sacrifice him earlier. Oh how I love this sport!
