NOT LOOKING GOOD FOR TONIGHTS RIDES
Tuesday Night Worlds | Fayetteville – has existed for 20 years and is cycling tradition in Fayetteville. Leaving @ 5:30 from The Bike Route or @ 6 from the parking lot adjacent to the Life Source building. Spirited pace with two regroups. This is a “try and drop you” race practice kind of ride. ROUTE: Lost Loop proper, Green Bridge in on 71. Click here for STRAVA link.
555 TNT Road Ride | Bentonville – meets @ 5:55 from the Bentonville Square. 35-45 mile ride, spirited pace with several regroups. This is a “try and drop you” race practice kind of ride. No whining! ROUTE: Centerton Circle. Click here for STRAVA link.
The economic impact of outdoor recreation in Arkansas is legit. 96,000 jobs! Over $9.7 billion in consumer spending! Ello Gov’nor, keep investing in outdoor recreation please!
So this is Vincenzo Nibali and the Italian team previewing the 2018 Worlds course. I’m sure Cavendish, Greipel and Kittel will be previewing it next.
Cape Epic Stage 5
Team Time Trail on MTB’s? Kind of weird. I think what is cool is the coverage of the race. Live feed with a neutral rider and on board camera pursuing the racers.
Volta a Catalunya Stage 4
It was a Movistar climbing dream team. And school was in session. I’ve been wondering how the Quintana (COL)/Valverde (SPA) combo would work. Now throw in Mikel Landa (SPA) and you have the New York Yankees of cycling. Watch out Skybots! Man keep an eye on young Marc Soler (SPA). That kid is crushing it.
Volta a Catalunya Stage 7
Super interesting race. The tough circuit and close times of placings caused a virtual peloton explosion. Kudos to Simon Yates (GBR). Unfortunately cycling is also a cruel cruel sport. Egen Bernal (COL) was on the verge of a career result and crashed heavily with about 6 km remaining. Dan Martin (GBR) and Rojas (SPA) also involved in the crash. Amazingly Dan (Nails) Martin would finish the race.
Gent – Wevelgem Women
Gent – Wevelgem Men
The final ascent of the Kemmelberg was decisive with 23 riders going clear. This group would real in the break forming a group of about 30 riders. Quick-Step had the bull by the horns with Stybar (SLO), Gilbert (BEL), Lampaert (BEL) and ace sprinter Viviani (ITA) all making the selection. Amazing to watch Gilbert sacrifice his chance for Viviani in the final K’s. I was just imagining him floating over the cobbles of northern France. His form is looking good for his big goal. The sprint was super interesting and worth watching from the helicopter view in slow-mo. A ton of luck with positioning and wheel selection. Sagan showed patience and had a clear lane which allowed him to get the jump, sprinting early on the left, while Demare (FRA) and Viviani on the right side had the barrier to contend with. Watch how close Demare gets to the barrier at times. The slowing Cannondale rider is drifting back and both Demare and Viviani have to first make it around before they have a clear view of the finish. The closing speed of Viviani reveals that his kick was good, alas it was too little too late. Viviani almost had the perfect race. Making the decisive move on Kemmelberg, three teammates in the selection, coming off a big win at De Panne. He was visibly crushed at the finish and failed to hold back tears. Love this sport.
