The Arkansas Stop – Bicycle Friendly Legislation is signed into law. It is HUGE that our government is passing bike friendly legislation. This law will definitely improve traffic flow but I wonder what motorists will think when they watch cyclist “run” stop signs/lights. I hope there is some education/awareness for this new law. In case you missed it, Race Recap Wednesday featured Jessica Brook of Breakaway Cycling Team and Andrew Evans of City Title Cycling Team. They raced the #FullGas Road Race over in Oklahoma on Sunday. Click on image to read their recaps.
Wondering how to view the Joe Martin Stage Race. Here’s a good read. Click on image above.
Tour of Flanders 2018 to stoke the fire for this weekend!
Dwars door Vlaanderen Elite Women
Fast forward to the final 20km. A series of 3 climbs around 50km made the final selection. By the third climb Annemiek van Vleuten (NED), Gracie Elvin (AUS), Liane Lippert (GER), Lucinda Brand (NED), Marta Bastianelli (ITA), Elisa Longo Borghini (ITA), Ellen van Dijk (NED), Kasia Niewiadoma (POL), Elena Cecchini (ITA), Sofie De Vuyst (BEL), Sheyla Gutierrez (SPA) separated from the peloton. A virtual who’s who of big names. Van Vleuten started attacking the group around 16km shedding a couple riders the faces of the others looked dejected then Van Dijk countered and it was a fatal blow. You could see it in the faces of the others who did not even respond. She quickly gained 18 seconds. Wow, what timing. Just a moment of hesitation and disorganization and she was gone.
Dwars door Vlaanderen Elite Men
No race video yet. Mathieu van der Poel (NED) made his intentions for Flanders clear. With 70km remaining MVDP set sail forming a small break. They would catch the previous break and merge a new group. Sensing the danger Bob Jungels (LUX) with Tiesj Benoot (BEL) in tow used the Knoktberg to bridge up. MVDP latched on and a new group formed. Three national champs (NED, AUT, LUX) in this group proved too much for any chasers behind. And an impressive ride from Lukas Pöstlberger (AUT) who was is in the original break then out front for awhile on his own was able to latch on to the winning move. Anthony Turgis (FRA) did almost everything right in the sprint. Dropped back, wound up and was at speed when he passed the group. But MVDP was too strong. Phew…Flanders is going to be huge this weekend.
