BikeNWA has a campaign that needs your support! Your input is needed to create safer places to ride in Northwest Arkansas for all ages and abilities! Fill out the information on our signature platform and pledge your support for the Fayetteville, Siloam Springs, and Springdale pilot projects. We are asking those cities to plan, design, and fund permanent versions of the facilities. This includes keeping the pilot projects on the ground to provide safe places to ride until permanent facilities can be constructed. Looking for next steps? You can email your city officials, share the link on social media, and take our surveys on our website! Click here for Signature platform. Click here to fill out the survey.
Road World Championships Elite Women
The images from the Yorkshire course and surroundings were stunning. Makes me want to visit and ride there. Annemiek van Vleuten (NED) set sail with 106km remaining on the Lofthouse climb. Van Vleuten said it was not a part of the plan. She just wanted to go hard on the climb and make it difficult. When she got a gap she decided to press on. Her effort did form an elite group of favorites behind who would chase for the remaining 100km. While the favorites tried to work together it was not enough and not soon enough. Surely they were thinking Van Vleuten would lose steam with that distance remaining. But on the contrary the gap would hold and she would eventually win with a 2 plus minute margin over her teammate Anna van der Breggen (NED) who had the privilege of sitting on for so many kilometers. Mind blowing performance. The Dutch dominated this race.
Road World Championships Junior Men
Such an exciting race and great to see young Americans succeed. The American team raced incredibly well, Quinn Simmons & Magnus Sheffield went 1st & 3rd on the day. Excellent tactics with Sheffield doing monster work for Simmons and still able to get 3rd. We are excited to follow their careers.
Road World Championships Elite Men
Just horrendous conditions for the elite men. Many favorites pulling the plug. These riders will remember this race for a long time. No one picked Mads Pedersen (DEN) to win Worlds but that is just what he did. He has raced a lot this season for his Trek-Segafrado trade team but not very many high results compared to last season were he finished 2nd at Tour of Flanders. But Worlds is the one race that changes a persons year and career path for that matter. Kudos to the 23 year old, who had just enough left to out last the normally much faster finisher Matteo Trentin (ITA). Also it’s great for Trek-Segafredo who seem to be lacking results this season overall.
