Tuesday Night Worlds | This Fayetteville group ride has existed for 20 years and is cycling tradition in Fayetteville. Leaving @ 5:30 from The Bike Route or @ 6 from the parking lot adjacent to the Life Source building. Spirited pace with two regroups. This is a “try and drop you” race practice kind of ride. ROUTE: Out-N-Back on 71.

Wow, this sport is crazy.
Strade Bianche Women
With l7km remaining Annemiek van Vleuten (NED) current world time trial champ put the hammer down. Using the incline on the final gravel sector as her launching pad. The Mitchelton-Scott rider was surely the strongest as the gap grew larger in the final k’s, winning with a comfortable 37 second margin. Notable: This ended Specialized Tarmac’s win streak in women’s Spring Classics.
Strade Bianche Men
Some epic images coming from Siena. The biggest names in cycling are hungry to win this race and it has quickly become a most interesting Spring Classic. And this addition did not disappoint. Diego Rosa (ITA) was OTF for many km’s with a long range tactic in play, Greg Van Avermaet (BEL) would start the action with the favorites at about 50km upping the pace and forcing a selection. Of course he was well marked and all the big names who could followed. Rosa was swept up at 36km to go. At 23km Jakob Fugslang (DEN) attacked with Wout van Aert (BEL) quick to follow. Julian Alaphilippe (FRA) sensing it could be THE move, would have to put in a great effort to join making it a trio. The chasers hesitated. The group got into rhythm working together but Fugslang attacked again on sector 10 distancing Van Aert. Fugslang & Alaphilippe would start rotating together. It did look like Fugslang was doing slightly more than the French men. Perhaps, playing the teammate card with Zedenek Stybar (CZE) in the chasing group. Fuglsang had Alexey Lutsenko (KAZ) behind in the chase. Watching the style of the two riders was interesting. Alaphilippe would sway from side to side and at times have his tongue hanging out. While Fugslang seemed calm with a smooth pedal stroke and very little movement or facial expression. You just knew he had to attack before the final climb. With Alaphilippe known as a fast uphill finisher. He tried but could not shake him. Van Aert would catch back on as the two started to sit up and look at each other. Fugslang attacked on the final ascent Alaphilippe responded immediately then waited a few meters to go clear. Phew…what a race. Who can stop the Wolfpack from eating up all the sheep? Notable: QuickStep/Specialized Tarmac wins yet another Spring Classic. Fugslang has improved steadily each year. He looks more and more like a Grand Tour contender to me. All three podium finishers have their roots in CX or MTB.
Paris-Nice Stage 1
Dylan Groenewegen (NED) put on a sprint skills clinic in France. It was well attended.
Paris-Nice Stage 2
Day 2 of the Dylan Groenewegen (NED) Sprint Skills Clinic in France. Today’s lesson included how to make the selections in heavy crosswinds. I’m gonna need the footnotes.
