555 TNT Road Ride | This Bentonville group ride meets @ 5:55 from the Bentonville Square. 35-45 mile ride, spirited pace with several regroups. This is a “try and drop you” race practice kind of ride. No whining! ROUTE: Back Door Tower. Click here for STRAVA link.
Tour de France Stage 19
One of the wildest days since I started following TdF 20 years ago. Watching Thibaut Pinot (Groupama-FDJ) pull the plug was super emotional as I’ve followed the ups and many downs of his carries. This year it seemed he had it dialed. He looked to be one of the strongest in this edition. Even dropping eventual winner Egan Bernal (Ineos). But suffering a muscle tear days earlier the pain was finally too great and he abandoned. Then we would see Geraint Thomas (Ineos) have a go, something I was really waiting for. G’s attack was not to be and countered by his teammate Egan Bernal. Alas, the yellow jersey cracked royally under the pressure. Logically we knew it was coming but in our hearts we did not want it to. And with Egan we were all watching a truly great performance from a 22 year old Colombian. We started to ask, how many Grand Tours will this kid win? But just as the stage was really getting cued up, it was terminated due to mudslides and hail. Watching the confusion on TV made me think what a nightmare this must be for race organizers. This Tour had THE drama. The gave the riders the time from the last mountain top they climbed and Bernal climbsd his way into yellow.
Tour de France Stage 20
Stage 20 was shortened as well due to the potential of more natural causes. Egan Bernal (Ineos) in yellow with the full support of Geraint Thomas (Ineos) the GC battle for yellow was over. Vincenzo Nibali (Bahrain-Meridia) wins it from the break leaving his mark on this edition. I thought Thomas was pure class about the flip flop in duties. He goes on to finish second overall. How will Ineos manage 3 TdF winners and a Giro winner next year? #newyorkyankees
Tour de France Stage 21
The “Group Ride” into Paris must feel well deserved as the riders begin to celebrate just making it to Paris and their team and rider accomplishments. Its great to see them all just chatting in the group and you can feel the stress is all but gone. With a final show for the sprinters on the Champs, Caleb Ewan (Lotto-Soudol) continues his upward trajectory into sprinter greats pulling off the hat-trick. If you remember Ewan was snubbed by his former team Mitchelton-Scott and left off the tour team because of their GC aspirations. So he moved teams in hopes to get that shot at the TdF. Time is now telling us that it was a good move. Kudos to all those involved with this race. I’m gonna have withdraws for the next week or so….

Ride description – The Bellview Road Ride has evolved into a more aggressive ride with average speeds now ranging from 18 -20 mph. Some riders are racers and the remaining riders are cycling enthusiasts. The spirited ride is more flat than other rides in NWA but still has some short power efforts. Their are regroups, within reason, but the ride would no longer be considered “no drop.” We welcome all new riders to join us and we try to account for all riders at the grouping spots.
