Tuesday Night Worlds | This Fayetteville group ride has existed for 20 years and is cycling tradition in Fayetteville. Leaving @ 5:30 from The Bike Route or @ 6 from the parking lot adjacent to the Life Source building. Spirited pace with two regroups. This is a “try and drop you” race practice kind of ride. ROUTE: TBD.
555 TNT Road Ride | This Bentonville group ride meets @ 5:55 from the Bentonville Square. 35-45 mile ride, spirited pace with several regroups. This is a “try and drop you” race practice kind of ride. No whining! ROUTE: TBD.
Olympic Road Race Women
The professionals got shocked by amateur Anna Kiesenhofer (Austria) a mathematician by trade attacked from the get go and eventually attacked the early break to go clear. It seemed that having no race radios and lack of cooperation among countries/teams played at least a small part in her victory. But hats off gold is gold.
Olympic Road Race Men
Richard Carapaz (Ecuador) took his podium Tour de France form and made good on gold in Tokoyo. With about 25km to go he was in a break with Brandon McNulty (USA) and would eventually drop McNulty going solo with about 6km to go. Notable: McNulty was just off the podium/bronze medal.
Olympic MTB Race Women
Switzerland swept the podium with Yolanda Neff winning her first gold medal. Loana Lecomte (France) was the odds on favorite. She is undefeated on the World Cup circuit. But overnight a typhon deposited rain on the course and changes had to be made shortening the race even. Neff and the Swiss teams technical skills shone while other riders were slipping and crashing.
Olympic MTB Race Men
Unfortunately because of a spectacular crash from Mathieu van der Poel (Netherlands) we did not get to see the Tom Pidcock (Great Britain) duel we were all hoping for. Pidcock looked so strong I’m not sure it even mattered.
