It’s not too late to attend the first ever Critical Mass Summit
BikeNWA and NWA Trailblazers are pleased to share about the first-ever Critical Mass Summit happening on July 23-24, 2021! Friday is virtual sessions 9am-5pm and Saturday is Choose your Adventure 9am-12pm and a Wrap-up Celebration Lunch 12pm-2pm.
This two-day summit is designed to empower and connect women and other underrepresented genders with the trails, cycling, and active transportation community. This includes cis women, trans women, women of color, the non-binary community, and those who are otherwise marginalized.
The summit is designed to build relationships, diversify and grow the cycling, active transportation, and social change movements, and empower women to work in these spaces (or aspire to lean into these spaces). Focused on the region of Northwest Arkansas and surrounding areas, the summit is intentional in increasing the diversity of women that participate in conversations and decision-making around these topics, whether that is due to lack of resources, access, or opportunity.
Tour de France Stage 21
While we did not get to see the great Eddy Merckx’s record get broken the final victory could not have come to a more deserving person. Wout Van Aert (Jumbo Visma) completes the trifecta. Winning the field sprint the most glorious of all sprints, a mountain stage which climbed the mythical Mont Ventoux not once but twice and finally winning a TdF classic time trial. We have seen riders win two of three but I can’t recall every seeing the trifecta at least in the last 20 years or so. Tadej Pogacar’s (UAE) dominant performance quickly made the GC race boring but all the other competitions were active and entertaining. I just wish the crashes in week one didn’t impact the general classification so much.
