Giro Rosa Stage 8
Well, we just like when Marianne Vos (NED) wins. It’s like watching history being made. Surely she will go down as one of the greatest cyclists ever.
Giro Rosa Stage 10
After taking the overall lead on the stage 7 time trial and winning stage 9 on Monte Zoncolan, Annemiek van Vleuten (NED) again showed that she was clearly in a league of her own winning stage 10 solo. No one was even close in the end, winning by a 3:35 margin.
Tour de France Stage 9
Wow, what a stage! I hope the “little Roubaix” stage is always a part of the Tour. While we don’t like seeing riders (Richie Porte (AUS)) crash out, the cobbles just added so much drama to the first week of the race. The Tour is about rewarding the most well rounded rider/team after 21 days of racing, mission accomplished. The cobbles test every type of rider and everyone on the team. Imagine what the mechanics have to endure! So much additional equipment. Heck Vincenzo Nibali (ITA), Nairo Quintana (COL) & Alejandro Valverde (SPA) all rode in the cobbled classics to prepare for this stage. No that’s doing your homework. So many sub-stories after a stage like this. Romain Bardet’s (FRA) 3 punctures and Mikel Landa’s crash (SPA). They would join forces and barely lose time in the end. And of course John Degenkolb’s (GER) triumphant return to the biggest stage. Phew. I’m glad for a rest day.
On the bike stage 9. Gripping stuff.
