X20 Sheldecross Women
Denise Betsema (Pauwels) on the 3rd (of 5) lap gave it go. World Champ Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado’s (Alpecin-Fenix) race for the front ended shortly after with a mechanical. Betsema would remain away. Lucinda Brand (Telenet) put in a last minute effort and would almost close the gap but ran out of real-estate. Betsema won with a 4 second margin.
CX20 Shedlecross Men
It was the return of the World Champ Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Fenix). He wasted no time making his presence known. But the European Champ Eli Iserbyt (Pauwels) did not make it easy. Iserbyt would claw his way back several times after MvdP surged. The World Champ eventually shook him off near the end taking the win by 6 seconds.
Superprestige Gavere Women
Lucinda Brand would not make the same mistake at Gavere. Denise Betsema (Paulwels) would try again early in the race but Brand was on it early. On lap 3 Brand poured on the power and Betsema could not hold the wheel. Riding flawless Brand had 13 seconds on Betsema at the end. (Notable: American Champ Clara Honsinger finished 4th just behind the World Champ. A big result.)
Superprestige Gavere Men
Slaying the giant. Tom Pidcock (Trinity Racing) did what only a handful have done. He beat Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Fenix). After coming out hot on lap one, the British Champ used the next laps to recover a bit. MvdP made it across and Toon Aerts (Telenet) as well. It seemed as though Pidcock was observing the other two riders while he recovered. Aerts was the first to go. Lap 6 on the longer climb the body language between Pidcock and MvdP could not have been more different. Then MvdP seemed to stall ever so slightly and the gap opened. Pidcock did not hesitate going on a charge. Pidcock also a multi-discipline rider beat MvdP convincingly with a 25 second margin. The first major CX win for the 21 year old. (Notable: Pidcock signed for Ineos Grenadiers in 2021.)

Rides are not “no-drop” or beginner rides
Ride description – The Bellview Road Ride has evolved into a more aggressive ride with average speeds now ranging from 18 -20 mph. Some riders are racers and the remaining riders are cycling enthusiasts. The spirited ride is more flat than other rides in NWA but still has some short power efforts. There are regroups, within reason, but the ride would no longer be considered “no drop.” We welcome all new riders to join us and we try to account for all riders at the grouping spots.
