I’ve been needing to mix up The Saturday Ride a bit. So a small group of us have been grinding some gravel the past couple Saturdays. Good stuff. Gravel routes are seemingly endless in NWA. This morning we hit what I call Wallin Mountain Loop. About 30 miles with 2800 gain. I like this loop because you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere but you are actually just a few miles from West Fork and Fayetteville. The views of the Ozarks are really great.

Wilson Hollow Road.
This was all gravel not too long ago. The old Tilly Willy bridge.
Love that sign.
Sector 1. The Tilly Willy KOM is highly coveted. We weren’t into that today. Just chilling.
About 3 miles of gravel glory.
Ozarkia.
The Wallin Mountain climb is interesting & challenging. Stair stepping its way up for 3 miles about 560 gain.
Once you see the towers you know it’s over.
Sector 2.
You kind of meander along the ridge top for a bit.
The roads are in good shape.
The recent rain has cut the dust.
Making friends with locals.
Back on pavement for a bit.
Mineral Springs Road.
The views on this stretch are pretty awesome.
Then on to a white knuckle descent.
Love that sign.
Right on 71.
Sector 3. Back in on Tilly Willy.
A great morning to ride. If you haven’t tried gravel yet you should. It’s nice to not think about cars. Just make sure you bring extra stuff tubes, a pump, water and a cell phone.
Total climbing: 2788 ft
this could easily be an ad or endorsement for the new Cannondale Slate!
I know someone is planning to pick one up. Will be interesting!
