With Tulsa Tough going on this weekend we had a smaller group roll out on Saturday. I am getting pretty soft (mentally & physically) these days. I am going to blame it on my 7 month old. The thought of racing elbow to elbow with some of the best cyclists in the region is not appealing to me at the moment. Plus, I’m pretty sure I’ve gained just as much weight as my kiddo. But I love to ride and any opportunity to turn the pedals is a good one. We headed out west and sort of made the route up as we went along. Folks if you are looking for flatter terrain in NWA then go west.
CLIF ZBAR’s are made for kids but also perfect for cycling. I really like the flavors and size of the bar. You can get a variety pack at Sam’s Club. But you might have to fight your kids for them! #clifbar #feedyouradventure
We had a storm chaser in the bunch.
Thanks to PBC for hosting The Saturday Ride. Start Well End Well @puritanbrewco
We headed west on Goose Creek Rd.
The colors this morning were really popping.
Then we took (recently chip sealed) Kinion Lake Rd. over to the NWA Spring Classic course.
Road surface is pretty rough but its been a great connecting road.
Then we turned south into the wind on Wedington Blacktop Rd.
Straightforward roads out west.
The happy barn is a cycling landmark here in NWA. You can’t see it in this photo but there is a giant smiley face on the barn.
Ozarkia.
Had to alter the route in search of water. We headed towards Bob Kidd Lake. The bridge on Stonewall Rd. going into Prairie Grove is still out. Also, the gas station near Bob Kidd is closed.
New bike alert! Cervelo S5.
Headed south out of Prairie Grove on Boogie Alley.
After a flat, I decided to head in. Wasn’t really feeling it anyway. Been super tired lately. The bunch pressed on.
This guy was happy to spend some time in the pool. Now if we can just get him to sleep through the night. I need a nap…
That guy in the black and green craft kit looks like he should be racing this weekend.
Agreed, at least I have a good excuse or two.
More wind catcher than storm chaser. Geeking out (and aerodynamic drag) is the price of collecting data, which is just another way of saying that geeking out is the price of geeking out…
Good stuff Jon! You are running out of places to put your hands.
That little guy sure is cute. I’d say he is worth the sleep deprivation and weight gain.
Agreed sir!
