This morning we just made a route up hoping to satisfy the folks wanting to roll shorter and those wanting to go longer. I had intended it to be a 2 hour chill spin because of the cyclo-cross race tomorrow. Instead it was an hour of power in the beginning and 2 hours turned into 3 hours. A few folks not wanting to ride that hard peeled off and the rest of us rolled on. What is it about holding the wheel? It is just too hard to let go sometimes. You don’t want to get dropped. But you also don’t want to ride that hard. It’s kind of a weird position to be in. We have a lot of varying fitness levels in the group at the moment. Most of us are in the off season and others just starting cyclo-cross season and finishing up the MTB series. And SOME just like to suffer. It was all good by the time we reached Prairie Grove. I’m not sure what the locals at the gas station thought of a bunch of colorful stretchy pants, bicycle riding weirdos, raising their voices at each other trying to blame someone for the elevated pace. We all had a good laugh about it. The mental images of the scenery from the ride this morning were not lost. Leaves are just starting to change. The backdrop of the Ozarks was sublime. Hope you got out today!
