Hazel Valley Gran Prix Challenge | Ride Recap
With sunshine o’plenty and promising warmer temps the stage was set for another epic day in the Ozark National Forest. 200 riders accepted the Hazel Valley Gran Prix Challenge. Riders from Kentucky, Wyoming, Montreal (CA), Tennessee, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri & Texas were represented. Attempting to tackle 55 miles of rugged Ozark gravel roads. Packed into those 55 miles was about 6000ft of elevation gain. This route has some of the most spectacular views of the Ozarks. The day would see a new course record set by none other then king of gravel Colin Strickland who went sub 3 hours at 2 hours 59 minutes. The fastest female finisher Crystal Anthony came in at 3 hours 24 minutes. Well done!
An update on the rider who fell on Winfrey Valley Rd. Brian sustained some very serious injuries but is expected to recover. I want to thank those riders who stopped to help Victor, Jon, Dan, Todd, Will and many others. Brian and Danielle recently moved here from Minnesota and I’ll let you know if they could use any help from our cycling community.
