Yesterday was the last day of the IMBA World Summit. So what do you do? Ride your bike of course! The weather was picture perfect and a huge group assembled for the VIP Epic Ride out on the Back 40. I am sort of in disbelief that all this is happening in Arkansas. Major kudos to the Walton Family Foundation for making this vision into reality. And huge props to all the segments of the local cycling community who rallied together to be gracious hosts!
What it looks like when the mountain bike industry comes to your house to play.
Volunteer meeting. It was a blast talking to folks from all over the country and helping them get around the course.
Gary Vernon making ride announcements via Bella Vista PD.
First couple miles were a bit jammed.
Ozarkia.
The Phat Tire aid station was great!
And when do you get to ride and hang with Danny MacAskill?! Super nice and humble dude.
After a couple more miles it was back to Blowing Springs Park. Greeted by some great tunes, delicious gumbo from Kevin, owner of Pedaler’s Pub and some great beers from Lost Forty Brewing based in Little Rock.
Later that evening we attended the VIP Happy Hour at the new Record venue in Bentonville.
I think Tom Walton said it best, “it takes a band of warriors.” It was so cool to see our local cycling community rally together to be great hosts for those attending the IMBA World Summit. What a week!
