Another blown weather forecast but this time in our favor! Warmer temps an no rain. A small group showed up to tackle Black Oak – Crawl Hill extension going counter clockwise. About 50 miles with 2,400 gain. The route is mostly flat with two significant climbs. The pace was a mixture of cruising – crushing – cruising. I like this mixture. Some time to talk and catch up but also some quality intensity. The drag from the base of Crawl Hill to Sulphur City needs to be a STRAVA segment. With a tailwind and well working rotation the speed is unbelievable. I always get caught up in that section of road for some reason. What stretch of road inspires you?
Not many pics this Saturday. I just let myself enjoy the good company and spent the rest of the time in the drops trying to hang onto wheels. Definitely felt like I rode my bike at the end! Good stuff.
Love smaller groups sometimes. Just a different vibe and always harder.
Favorite new socks. I know…they’re socks. But these are stupid comfortable. Swiftwick – Made in the USA! Thanks Brenda Sue.
Is there a better helmet? It is aero, it has big vents, it is freaky light, it is really comfortable and most importantly it looks cooler than any other aero helmet.
If it’s good enough for Marianne Vos then…
Let’s Eat! Approximately 1/3 of the fries never made it home.
Nice write-up, Rob, as usual. Always makes me want to ride more, better.
Need to call this route the Arrowhead Loop!
