About 10 years ago my wife and I were just heading back to Fayetteville on a Sunday afternoon from a weekend trip to Texas. We were looking for somewhere to eat on Dickson Street. It just so happened that the Joe Martin Stage Race Criterium had Dickson Street closed off. So we walked around for a bit to check it out. I was immediately captured by the movement, color & sounds of the racing peloton. I can remember telling Paige I want to try it. And that’s all she wrote. I’ve been racing and riding bikes in one form or fashion ever since. I can’t say I am any good at it but I enjoy the competition, teamwork and camaraderie of it all. I give credit to the JMSR for drawing me in to the world of road cycling. Only 8 days remain before bicycles take over NWA. OCA wants to invite you to participate as a fan, volunteer, racer or rider next week. There is something for everyone.

Did you know All Sports Productions, Inc. has partnered with the University of Arkansas Strategic Organizational Design Class in the Recreation and Sports Management Department? A chance for students to get real world experience producing an event. They will be working on all facets of event production. Think of it as a learning laboratory for students. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the UA to fund a graduate level scholarship in Recreation and Sports Management. Pretty cool. They will be taking on the inaugural Joe Martin Gran Fondo. You can ride the pro courses with support. There are 3 distances to choose from 17 miles, 41 miles and 105 miles. I am doing the 105!
