There’s been quite a bit of buzz about Fayetteville’s new bike share program. We are excited to see more people have access to using bikes for transportation. This makes perfect sense for Fayetteville and its rapidly growing student population. So how does VeoRide work?
COST
Monthly subscriptions will cost $17 or $70 annually for regular users. However it is really important to note that subscriptions are not required. Ride fees without one are 50 cents per 15 minutes for the standard 7-speed bikes. For e-bikes (electronic pedal assistance) a $1 unlock fee is required, then 10 cents per minute after that. So, a $1.50 could get you from one end of campus to the other! Great for those hot summer days!
There is a different subscription rate for students, faculty and staff of the Fayetteville Public Schools and University of Arkansas. They pay $10 monthly or $35 per year. And subscriptions for low-income residents will be $4.99 per month or $28.99 annually.
The main benefit for subscribing is unlimited one-hour rides.
HOW TO USE
1– Download the VeoRide app
2– Locate Bike
3– Scan To Unlock
4– Go Ride! Then Park (Responsibly)
I wish they had VeoRide when I was a student at the University of Arkansas. Parking was bad back then, I can’t even imagine what it is like now with a student population double the size. Needless to say this program will be an interesting one to follow.
